Information

The 2017 Short course block day is a single day to interact with specialists in the field of perioperative medicine. We provide an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in the online course to case studies and introduce other important areas in Perioperative Medicine.

We are delighted to welcome a very experienced faculty to provide high quality sessions.

All catering is provided including an on site barista!

Please note that the Short Course Block Day is only open to consultants (proof will be required at the time of registration). However consultants and trainees can enrol for the online only mode of participation.

If enrolled in the ANZCA CPD programme, you can obtain credit for the cardiac arrest simulation scenarios, thus fulfilling one of the emergency response requirements for the 2015-2017 Triennium.

The block day is conducted over 9 hours from approximately 8am till 5pm.
Students are divided into small groups (between 10 and 14) and rotate through the case studies. Typically there are 6 rotations of approximately an hour each.

 

What is included on the day?

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included as well as an all-day complimentary barista.

Parking and transport is not included.

Getting There:

Car/Taxi

  •  Car - For visitors who are interested in car parking, click on the link here to view parking details.
  •  Taxi - There is a taxi rank on Commercial Road, directly outside The Alfred Hospital. A phone booking service is available in the foyer at the main entrance to the Hospital.

Public transport

  •  Tram - Take the tram marked route 72 from Flinders Street station and alight on Commercial Rd (tram stop is just outside the hospital main entrance)
  •  Train - Prahran Railway Station is only a short stroll along Greville St from The Alfred Centre.
  •  Bus - Bus routes from the city 216, 219 and 220 will take passengers to The Alfred Centre and route 246 from Richmond Station
